Our Alaska Retreats
For the 2019 summer season we are offering four retreats.
Meditation teacher and author Kurt Hoelting will team up with writing teacher and poet Holly Hughes in this retreat, to share writing exercises and mindfulness practices designed to help you reconnect with your inner and outer landscapes. Based at Keene Channel Lodge, we will also enjoy daily kayaking excursions in the heart of Southeast Alaska’s Inside Passage.
This retreat, co-led by Kurt Hoelting and David Perls, is designed specifically for professionals living in a world where we are constantly pressured, always-on, information overloaded and continuously distracted.
Mindfulness has emerged in the business sector as a powerful source of emotional intelligence that can enhance both personal balance and interpersonal effectiveness, while also contributing to our business bottom lines.
Our retreats for all-comers offer a time of refuge, in the midst of Southeast Alaska's beautiful Inside Passage, from which to cultivate the inner resources we need to meet the challenges of our time with creativity and courage. This retreat will be based out of Keene Channel Lodge, and will include a two-night camping experience. The retreat will be led by Kurt Hoelting, founder and Senior Teacher with Inside Passages, and a wilderness guide in Alaska for the past twenty-five years.
This retreat will be time of renewal for practicing mindfulness teachers. We will join daily kayaking in Alaska’s sublime wilderness with shared mindfulness practice, and deep listening to each other as we explore issues of presence-based leadership in a diverse and ever-changing world. Kurt Hoelting and Rhonda Magee will host conversations on the pressing issues of our day that weigh increasingly on our teaching, including ecological decline and cultural polarizations around racism, equity and trauma-informed teaching practices - in service of healing for ourselves and others.
We operate on the Tongass National Forest under special use permit from the USDA Forest Service.
