Autumn Equinox Day of Mindfulness at the Whidbey Institute Sanctuary
with Kurt Hoelting
Sunday, September 22, 2019
(Note: the Winter Solstice retreat that was scheduled for Saturday, December 14, 2o19, has been cancelled, and will be rescheduled for early spring)
Join Kurt at the beautiful Whidbey Institute Sanctuary on Whidbey Island to bring in the fall season with a day of mindfulness. Timed to correspond with the autumn equinox, this daylong silent retreat will offer a timely opportunity to turn inward toward the season of harvest and rest. In a culture that never slows down, never stops striving, this retreat will offer a chance to refresh our spirits while revitalizing our practice of mindfulness.
Appropriate for seasoned meditators, or those just beginning a practice, this Day of Mindfulness retreat will blend guided sitting meditation with periods of yoga and mindful movement in the sanctuary, along with extended periods of walking meditation on the beautiful Whidbey Institute trails. There is also a lovely stone labyrinth for walking meditation adjacent to the sanctuary.
Nestled in the center of 100 acres of protected forest land, the Whidbey Institute is a place apart, a place steeped in natural beauty, that exudes a spirit of both presence and craft. As such, it is a perfect place to practice mindfulness.
Just a ten minute drive from the Whidbey Island ferry landing in Clinton, and less than an hours drive from Seattle, the Institute is surprisingly close to the urban centers around Puget Sound. Yet it feels far from the buzz of the city. Instructions for getting to the Whidbey Institute, and planning your trip, are available here.
Cost of the retreat is $35. REGISTER HERE. Further retreat details will be provided upon registration.
